QuizLens ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the QuizLens browser extension and related services.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a QuizLens account, we collect:
- Your email address
- A password (stored securely using industry-standard encryption)
Usage Data
As you use QuizLens, we collect:
- Quiz history (questions generated, answers given, scores)
- XP totals, level, streak count, and badge progress
- The URLs of pages where you take quizzes (to track unique site badges)
- Timestamps of quiz activity (for streak and daily bonus calculations)
Text You Highlight
When you highlight text and click "Quiz me!", the selected text is sent to our servers to generate quiz questions. We do not permanently store the highlighted text after your quiz is generated. We do not read, collect, or monitor any other content on the pages you visit.
Payment Information
If you subscribe to QuizLens Pro, your payment is processed by a trusted third-party payment processor. We never receive, store, or have access to your full credit card number, bank account details, or other sensitive financial information. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status and billing period.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the QuizLens service
- Generate quiz questions from your highlighted text
- Track your progress, XP, streaks, badges, and level
- Manage your account and subscription
- Send important service-related communications (e.g., security alerts, subscription changes)
- Identify and fix bugs, errors, or performance issues
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We will never send you promotional emails unless you explicitly opt in.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures including access controls, monitoring, and regular security reviews. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
QuizLens uses local browser storage to keep you signed in and store your preferences (such as sound effect settings). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. We do not track your browsing activity outside of QuizLens interactions.
5. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of third-party services to operate QuizLens:
- Payment processing: To handle Pro subscriptions securely. These providers are PCI-DSS compliant and do not share your payment details with us.
- Hosting and infrastructure: To store your account data and serve the extension reliably.
We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers.
6. Your Data Rights
You have the right to:
- Export your data: You can download all your progress (XP, badges, streaks, quiz history) as a file from Settings > Data Management > Export Data.
- Delete your data: You can permanently erase all progress from Settings > Data Management > Reset Progress. You can also request full account deletion by contacting us.
- Access your data: Contact us to request a copy of all personal information we hold about you.
- Correct your data: Contact us if any information we hold about you is inaccurate.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records.
8. Children's Privacy
QuizLens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of QuizLens after an updated policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
